MIT's Design Studio of the Future (DSOF): The DSOF is an interdisciplinary effort between the School of Architecture and Planning and the School of Engineering that focuses on geographically distributed electronic design and work group collaboration.  MIT OpenCourseWare was then initiated to provide a new model for the dissemination of knowledge and collaboration among scholars around the world, and contributes to the “shared intellectual commons” in academia, which fosters collaboration across MIT and among other scholars. Building on the experience of other universities, TEAL will merge lectures, recitations, and hands-on laboratory experience into a technologically and collaboratively rich experience. MIT OCW is not meant to replace degree granting higher education. Conversations with MIT faculty about inspired teaching at MIT. These materials might be of particular value in developing countries that are trying to expand their higher education systems rapidly. These projects are stimulated and supported by MIT's Council on Educational Technology and by Project I-Campus, a collaboration between MIT and Microsoft Research.  OCW video and audio files are also provided in full for offline downloads on iTunesU and the Internet Archive. MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a free, publicly accessible, openly-licensed digital collection of high-quality teaching and learning materials, presented in an easily accessible format. As of May 2018[update], over 2,400 courses were available online. The project was announced on April 4, 2001, and uses Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. MIT Open Learning Participation of MIT faculty in MIT OCW will be voluntary, although judging by the number who already actively utilize the web as part of their teaching, we expect that within 10 years, over 2000 MIT courses will be available on the MIT OCW website. 4. While still publications of course materials like the rest of the site content, these courses are more in-depth and the materials are presented in logical sequences that facilitate self-study. The project was spearheaded by professors Dick K.P Yue, Shigeru Miyagawa, Hal Abelson and other MIT Faculty. 2. If student course work is placed on the MIT OCW site, then copyright in the work remains with the student. The MIT OCW website will be coherent in design but flexible enough to accommodate many different types of courses, lectures, seminars, etc. Resources will be available to provide teaching assistants and professional production support for developing and maintaining the MIT OCW website. Class syllabi, lecture notes, problem sets, exams, reading lists and video lectures are all available. Learning community environments of this sort will be very widely used in professional education in the coming years.  In 2011, "MIT's goal for the next decade [was] to increase our reach ten-fold" and to secure funding for this. MIT OCW will radically alter technology-enhanced education at MIT, and will serve as a model for university dissemination of knowledge in the Internet age. ArchNet: The ArchNet project is based on the idea that educational technology should be employed to create and enhance learning communities. Go behind the scenes in some of the most interesting courses, from nuclear physics to film appreciation to hands-on digital design. Rather, the goal is to provide the content that supports an education. One of the Institute’s earliest female graduates, Wagley was also the Alumni Association’s first female president. MIT OpenCourseWare sits within MIT Open Learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT Open Learning works with MIT faculty, industry experts, students, and others to improve teaching and learning through digital technologies on campus and globally. Launched in September 2002, MIT OpenCourseWare gives people free access to practically all of the content of the 1,800 graduate and undergraduate courses from all five of MIT's schools. A curated collection of OCW and related materials for high school educators, students, and parents. A set of foundational math, science, and engineering courses with all the resources needed for independent study. Some colleges and universities now require a website for every class. The most fundamental cornerstone of the learning process at MIT is the interaction between faculty and students in the classroom, and amongst students themselves on campus. Individual learners could draw upon the materials for self-study or supplementary use. As of May 2018[update], 100 courses included complete video lectures. If funding comes through as hoped for, we would begin a pilot program in the fall of 2001, with a goal of making over 500 courses available on the World Wide Web over the next 2 1/2 years. Increasingly, distance learning is also limited to those willing and able to pay for materials or course delivery. Software and teaching materials developed in this effort will be made available nationally at little or no cost, in the hopes of motivating a national effort along these lines. , Video content for the courses was originally primarily in RealMedia format. In 2007, MIT OpenCourseWare introduced a site called Highlights for High School that indexes resources on the MIT OCW applicable to advanced high school study in biology, chemistry, calculus and physics in an effort to support US STEM education at the secondary school level. 600 Technology Square Complementing these course materials, OCW also offers: A portal where MIT instructors share special publications describing how they teach with their OCW materials, in this way helping education professionals find and use OCW content in their classrooms. What is the projected timetable for OpenCourseWare? Although the lab's focus is the study of microelectronic devices, WebLab has the potential to revolutionize science and engineering education by providing online access to state-of-the-art labs. MIT OpenCourseWare will provide the content of, but is not a substitute for, an MIT education.
